Families Matter

I like old black and white images. When I came across this one, it got me thinking of how families had changed, and yet in so many ways they have remained unchanged.

Families are important for kids. As human beings we nurture our young for many years. We make sure they are happy, fed and safe. Even after we grow up strong families can be great anchors, especially during difficult times.

Emotional Support

With long lives, kids can overlap many years with their parents, grandparents and even their great grand parents. This is source of great emotional strength for kids. It also helps them understand how lives have changed over the decades, by interacting with them. They have family members to go to, when parents and siblings are caught up life.

Financial Support

It’s not uncommon for parents and grandparents pitching in to help younger people settle down by extending some financial support. In times of distress, parents might actually welcome their kids home and house them until they are back on their own feet. Parents might even help their kids go to college, buy a house or start a business.

Close family ties helps people stay rooted and bonded, like a kite which is free to enjoy the wind, knowing well that it is anchored safely. Family is a gift that lasts forever.
